The reasons that you are giving for voting no on the con-con are fear mongering and without real merit. However, the fact that a blank vote counts as a no vote is the main reason I am encouraging everyone to vote "Yes". The state has decided to take away our freedom of speech by counting blank votes. It has determined that if you do not know enough about the issue to vote on it, the state will decide your vote for you.
I did get a kick out out former Governor Arioshi's statement "A Constitutional Convention is expensive and this would not only hurt people in the short term, but also hurt all of us for many years to come if any harmful amendments are introduced by special interests." considering that HE gave the Unions power over the state. (By example, when I worked for the state, they illegally took union dues out of my paycheck because of a bill he signed on his way out of the door.) He was bought a paid for by special interests.
Business as usual is failing in this state. The educational system is a joke. 90% (the number given to me by UHH when I attended) of local high school graduates have to take 1-2 years of remedial courses before they are allowed to attend UH. The PUC is actually owned by the companies they are designed to regulate. The political system is too one sided. Hokulia is continuing to build on agricultural land, in direct violation of the states laws. They flaunt the fact they will sue the county of Hawaii if they have continued opposition.
Govenment corruption is so bad in this state, they don't feel a need to try to hide it. If you want something new done, you have to know who to buy off. The list goes on and on, but bottom line is that we really need some change in this state.
By the way, your commercials are a joke. You have a multitude of people stating their oppositon, yet not a single reason why they are objecting. Maybe they don't really know? And, whose special interests are you (and the state of Hawaii) really trying to protect?
