Adopted by Taketa family (Maui) with roots in the Kingdom of Hawai'i. For decades, Sean is an educator and media activist who has helped to develop community access in Hawaii - helping to found and serving on the boards of many local media access groups, including: Human Services TV Network, Community TV Producers Association, UH Broadcast Communications Authority, 'Olelo: Community TV, and Honolulu Community Media-Council.
He's former vice chair of the Maui County Charter Commission - and active with national media policy discussions. Currently a part-time resident and keeping his focus on human rights and public interest media - as expressed in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." (UN, 1948)
