I don't know brother. Nov. 4 is fast approaching so how ever you can get them to vote you have to atleast try to convince them one way or the other but blank is !@#$ 'd. As for me, I just ask people if they are for or against it and most say "Whats that?" so I take 2 minutes to tell them that its their chance to change the course of Hawaii's future for our children! And thats all it takes to get the the vote from thoses lacking knowledge on both sides due to radio and media getting $$ from Gov/ and big business to portray the Yes vote as being the wrong way. I agree with Lt. Aiona's statement.."A NO vote is a vote against the people". Doesn't it just suck. Learning this @ our age, having teenaged kids and not really knowing who to say the bad guys are? Youre absolutely right... wish we had known before... but just do something about what you know NOW and are in the process of learning. Oh by the way, congratulations on your island banning GMO crops. We are suffacating here on Moloka'i with Monsanto and GMO corn (not fit for human consumption) one more thing to be addressed at a concon) I'm sure your friends have things that they'd like to see addressed. Start talking... you see one guy, he tells another, he tells 10 @ work.. you can make a difference. If you really are a YES vote, we'd better get to work on our friends there's not much time. Tell the kids to print up something from the internet to share with friends like Ed Case's piece on this site. Talks about pros and cons. Go for it and lets see what happens. I'm just convinced that due to poor voter turnout... THE BLANKS WIN!! what a joke. Is that the type of constitution that we want our children to be proud of and fight and die for? Not me.

Hey, Any rallys or public meetings going on to inform the public about the concon? Did you watch the concon debate last week? We can change as many minds about this as we come into contact with. My fear is that the Ha'oles that we mentioned earlier will vot no from lack of knowledge and the hawaiians may or may not vote yes but the issue is the blanks being counted as NO

Aloha, First and formost you must help your kids to explain to their friends and parents that just because there is a concon doesn't necessarily mean that any rights would be lost. A concon is nothing more than a board meeting to discuss "possible" changes to "the rules" no change or loss of rights or priveleges will take place with out the PEOPLE voting to make the change. Simply holding the concon does nothing except for put out on the table the concerns of US... A THE PEOPLE and to look for altertitives and then present the changed for a vote. The afraid "haole's" have the option of voting for or against the changes but not to have the opportunity to address "Flaws" in the state constitution just continues to feed the Hawaiian/Haole attitude of us and them. Hawaiians ( of blood or heart/mind) need to vote in order to take advantage of this now!!! It won't be on the ballot for 10 more years and left as it is, Hawaii will become FULL BLOWN America controlled entirely by America. Now is the time to adopt and reestablish our self determination/government. Teach the kids. As it is, they have no chance to save whats left of Hawaii and its natural resources without adressing the current laws and ammending them as necessary to be effective in these times.. not 30 years ago. Gosh, I'm only new to the political scene but this one burns my okole. YES! YES! YES! to a concon. the community of Hawaii is being conned out of this by the lack of knowledge and government scare tactics designed to inform the majority of (non-Hawaiians) voters that that a concon is not necessary and our constitution was ment to be an enduring document. BS. Times change, people change, laws must change, constitutions can change... for th betterment of all! Sorry so long. I could go on and on.. and if given the opportunity, YES I would run for election for a seat at the concon. It should be run by the people, not just the legislature who mostly stand for big business and corporations.
