Yes
Tell everyone a little bit about yourself
I've been helping folks in Hawaii apply technology in their daily lives and now I'm really excited to see if we can apply this to eDemocracy.

I believe in a few things that you should probably know about, especially within the context of this site:

- There is such a thing as right and wrong, good and evil. It's important do to right, good things and always work to avoid wrong and evil things.

- My fundamental value compass which directs me to discern between right and wrong, is God. The Christian religion, while not perfect nor infallible, is the one I get the majority of my values from.

- Government is systemically inefficient and necessarily so. Therefore the only way to have an efficient government is to have a smaller one.

- Individuals and organizations are significantly better at spending their own money than government is at spending other people's money. Therefore lower taxes means more money better spent on issues that matter most to people.

- Distributed systems are inherently more resilient against failure and far better at adapting to changing conditions. Therefore, a decentralized government with decision-making pushed out to the edge of the network is more responsive to the needs of its constituents and more resilient against non-democratic manipulation.

My public service history (in reverse chrono order):
- Hawaii Venture Capital Association board member (’08-present)
- Neighborhood Board #2 member (’07-present)
- Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council Chair (’07-’08)
- Hawaii Angels Executive Board Member (’05-’07)
- Chamber of Commerce Board Member (’03-’08)
- Lanakila Pacific Board Member (’03-present)
- PATCH Hawaii Board Member (’00-’02)

The people have decided. Now we need to execute.

One of the characteristics of great companies is that the management team engages in spirited debates over key issues and may fervently disagree with one another but once the CEO makes the decision, everyone falls in line and works together as hard as they can to execute the choice as successfully as possible.

This campaign was an amazing experience for me personally as I saw both sides work so hard and so skillfully to put forth their case to the public. It was a great, spirited debate. The “… Continue

A ConCon is a shareholder’s meeting

Although my involvement with HawaiiConCon.org is mostly from a technical and perspective, I could not help but try to come up with a “Computer Minute” of what a Constitutional Convention (ConCon) really is and why it is a unique government function. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far and I’d love to get your feedback on it by commenting on my blog at HawaiiConCon.org:

A ConCon is very much like a bContinue

Forum format changed

Some of you may have noticed that our forums look a little bit different. The layout was changed to be chronological as opposed to threaded. I think this will make them a little easier to follow. Please feel free to leave your feedback comments here.

Member update for May 28th, 2008

Aloha Kakou,

Thanks to YOU, our demonstration of e-democracy is booming! As of today we have 134 members, more than the number of delegates in the 1978 ConCon. I would love to gather some kind of metric that compares the volume of discussions we’ve been having online to the ones that occurred in ’78 as I’m sure we will pass that milestone rapidly. If anyone has any ideas as to how to measure online vs. in-person activity, please let… Continue

Nice try, Peter.
Please feel free to send me information on continuing efforts to improve the tools of government.
BTW, it seems like someone is using your site to post assignments--seems like freshman level. Off topic, anyway.
Keep the faith, baby.

Peter, you may also want to include a link so people can stream the audio over the web if they are not near a radio:
