It's your ConCon. What do you want to do with it? Learn - Discuss - Decide

I have asked my co-workers and friends who have voted early about their decision on the con-con. They all have voted against it. When I asked them why I felt like I was watching one of the ads from the Hawaiian Alliance. I fear that our neighbors are too lazy to research the topic theirselves to make an educated decision. Instead they have allowed a special interest group to vote for them.

and the nea pats itself on the back for $350k+ of their members money VERY well spent ...
:-(

/something to ponder for EVERYONE when they fill in their blanks and pull their levers over the next 2 weeks -- who put forth $$ towards the candidate or issue you are supporting and WHY?!

All this represents is a well organized special interest against an unorganized and loosely affiliated citizens' effort..
Sad but true that money always wins, and Liberty loses.

Hawaii Alliance is un-American and a pawn of the status quo.

Check David Shapiro, who rocks hard!
He calls the opposition to Con Con "dishonest".

I recently spoke with Kurt Fevella about ConCon. He is running for the position of District 43 Representative (Ewa Area). When I asked him why he opposed ConCon he said "The decisions made in a ConCon this year can really hurt the Hawaiian people". The conversation continues on and he speaks about Hawaii Homestead rights and other rights geared toward native Hawaiians. I then reminded him that no matter what is decided in ConCon before anything is amended the people recieves an opportunity to vote on the issues. He then told me I was wrong. He said "What they decide in at the Convention is final". After this I pretty much stopped listening and didnt bother arguing.
Point of the story.... Either Kurt Fevella is a liar or he doesnt know what he is talking about. Im not saying he isnt a pleasant person or anything (if that even matters). He may simply be another misinformed resident who has no business taking a public stand on a subject he doesnt fully understand. Don't vote for Fevella.

Does Kurt's statement mean that whatever questions THEY decide to ask are final? What I wonder/worry about is how do they decide what we get to vote on? How do we as average citizens get our concerns to be addressed by the committee? Also, is the process similar to that of the normal political process in that they are able attach so many "riders" to the proposals that the original intent gets completely lost? I'm sorry that most of my postings seem so negative but I need to know that I am doing the right thing. For the record, I already voted and I chose YES but to be honest, I will have some sleepless nights if the measure passes for quite some time. I pray that God will save us from from those who are trying to save us and, failing that, at least save us from ourselves.
